2023-2024 Season: The Fires That Burn Within Us
How do we protect our souls in this world on fire? The MAI’s 23.24 season focus on questions of collective and personal memories, and gestures of survival. This season’s projects offer a constellation of possibilities for practices of care, radical love, and acts of resistance. Fire guides us. Fire destroys us. Fire brings us together. The strength to live still crackles within us. 2024-2025 Season : Returning To Love
25 years of love is what we are celebrating in MAI’s 24/25 season. In these times of political and ecological turmoil, the season’s projects remind us to return to love – an undeniable love for our communities and stories that keep our flame burning. How do we celebrate the 25th anniversary of a unique space like MAI, considered by so many artists and audiences to be their second home? By continuing to offer our spaces to bold new dance forms, to words that recall the mourning of those who took the road of resistance, and to canvases that convince us that other luminous worlds are possible. 2025-2026 Season: Vestiges
Between the preludes of returning to our homeland and refusing to forget what has been stolen from us, to the emergence of new solidarities, MAI’s 2025-2026 season plunges us into the vestiges of memories that illuminate the present and the future of our many communities. This season’s multidisciplinary works invite us to imagine alternative spaces where creative freedom oscillates between reciprocity and otherness. 2026-2027 Season: Libération
The 26.27 season, a season that invites us to collectively reflect on what liberation means. One that takes shape through art, words and movement, but also through the possibility of fully being ourselves.
Each project is rooted in a community of its own. Here, stories, histories and imaginaries find a space to be honoured. From one work to the next, we are invited into intimate and singular worlds, shaped by those who inhabit them. Their stories will touch us, move us, and perhaps even transform the ways we come together and the ways we understand freedom. Saison 2023-2024 : Les feux qui brûlent en nous
Comment protégeons-nous nos âmes dans ce monde en feu ? La saison 23.24 du MAI s’intéresse aux questions de mémoires collectives et personnelles et des gestes de survie. Saison 2024-2025 : Revenir à l’amour
25 ans d’amour, c’est ce que nous célébrons au cours de la saison 24.25 du MAI. En ces temps politiques et écologiques troubles, ces projets nous rappellent de revenir à l’amour, cet amour indéniable pour nos communautés et nos histoires, qui garde notre flamme allumée. Comment célébrer le 25ième anniversaire d’un lieu unique comme le MAI, considéré par tant d’artistes et de publics comme leur deuxième maison ? En continuant d’offrir nos espaces à de nouveaux pas de danse audacieux, à des paroles qui racontent les deuils de celleux qui se sont engagé.es sur la route de la résistance et à des canevas qui nous convainquent que d’autres mondes lumineux sont possibles. Entre le prélude du retour à la terre natale et le refus d’oublier ce qui nous a été dérobé, jusqu’à l’émergence de nouvelles solidarités, la saison 25-26 du MAI nous plonge dans les vestiges de souvenirs qui éclairent le présent et le futur de nos multiples communautés. Les oeuvres pluridisciplinaires de cette saison nous permettent d’imaginer des espaces alternatifs où la liberté créative oscille entre réciprocité et altérité. Saison 2026-2027 : Libération
La saison 26.27 est une saison qui invite une réflexion collective sur ce qu’est la libération. Celle qui se déploie par l’art, la parole, le mouvement, mais aussi par la possibilité d’être pleinement soi-même. Chaque projet prend racine dans une communauté qui lui est propre. Des histoires, des héritages et des imaginaires qui trouvent ici un espace pour être honorés. D’une œuvre à l’autre, les portes d’univers intimes et singuliers, façonnés par celles et ceux qui les habitent s’ouvrent à nous. Leurs récits sauront nous toucher, nous déplacer, peut-être même transformer nos façons d’être ensemble, d’être libres.
